The following Honorary
Doctorate Degrees may be conferred on persons who have achieved
distinction in education, industry, business, culture, creative
work or public service. Other considerations may include the
fact that their achievements have a particular relevance to the
Asiainstitut of Management’s Mission, and that they represent
good role models for the institution's students. Honorary
degrees are not awarded to encourage or reward contributions to
the institution. The honorary degrees which may be awarded are:
Doctor of Business Administration
honoris causa (Hon DBA) for business and or
industry contributions
Doctor of Humane Letter
honoris causa (Hon DHL) for cultural contributions
Doctor of Laws honoris causa
(Hon LLD) for public service contributions
Doctor of Science honoris
causa (Hon DSc) for contributions to knowledge
HONORARY DEGREES
COMMITTEE
The Honorary Degrees Committee is a
Standing Committee of Academic Council of the Asiainstitut of
Management, with the following membership:
President
Vice-President
Academic Council Members
Heads of Departments
Academic Registrar
The Academic Registrar shall act as
Secretary to the Honorary Degrees Committee.
The Honorary Degrees Committee shall
have full delegated authority from the Academic Council to
receive and consider nominations for the award of Honorary
Degrees.
The business of the Honorary Degrees
Committee shall be confidential to its members.
PROCEDURE FOR
CONSIDERING NOMINATIONS
Any member of the Academic Council or
of the Board of Governors may submit in confidence to the
Secretary of the Honorary Degrees Committee the name of a person
for consideration for the award of an Honorary Degree.
The Honorary Degrees Committee shall
not consider applications from or on behalf of persons desirous
of receiving Honorary awards.
Having considered the nominations
received, the Honorary Degrees Committee shall submit in
confidence to the Chair of the Board of Governors a list of
those persons to whom it proposes to offer Honorary awards. The
Chair of the Board of Governors shall not have power to veto
names on the list, but shall be entitled to refer back any name
to the Honorary Degrees Committee for further consideration and
final decision.
No Honorary Degrees of the Institution
shall be offered other than have been approved by the Honorary
Degrees Committee.
The name of a person who is to receive
an Honorary award shall be formally notified to the Board of
Governors only after the Honorary Degrees Committee has approved
the offer of the award and the proposed recipient has confirmed
his/her intention to accept.
CONFERMENT OF HONORARY
DEGREE AWARDS
Honorary awards shall be conferred at
Awards Ceremonies of the Institution. The president of the
institution or a designated representative on behalf of the
institution confers the honorary degrees
Withdrawal of HONORARY
DEGREE Awards
In the event that recipients of the
honorary degree awards have been found to commit breach or
suspected breach of conduct to the service of humanity, on
recommendations by the Honorary Degrees Committee, the awards
will be revoked.
